Today, we presented some of our song choices to our class and teacher. I began with playing the song 'Oblivion' to my class which is a slow pop song with a piano instrumental. Overall, I received lots of positive feedback. Many people in my class said that the song could be presented in the music video as a lone female playing the piano together with different mise en scenes to keep the video interesting as well as keeping the soulful, sultry elements of the song. We also discussed how a narrative could also be an option for this song as it is very lyrical. Overall, as a group we discussed that creating a music video of this similar genre but of a more upbeat tempo similar to Ella Mai and Jorja Smith who do pop/r&b songs as I feel we could come up with some really visually appealing shots for the music video like tracking and birdseye shots.
To get some different feedback, I then showed my class the song 'Weekend Deep End' which is a indie song sand by a male. The song has a long introduction which posed some questions from the class like how the music video may be hard to keep an audience interested and engaged as it is quite monotonous.
Although many people enjoyed the song, as a group we collectively agreed that created a music video for it would not be our highest of interests.
