When starting to complete research in regards to my music video and campaign, I conducted research into looking at another student made music video to have a look into the pros and cons. I think that this research will help me to avoid mistakes when making our own video but also allow us to look into things that work successfully.
I decided to watch a previous Hurtwood House music video named 'Disco Barbie'.
Things I liked about the music video:
- I enjoyed how multiple different sets were used yet they made them coherent by keeping a consistent colour scheme throughout. The colour scheme was predominantly pink which went with the girly/pop genre of the video - it also matched the lyrics of the song 'disco barbie' as a disco ball was also used as part of the set.
- I think that the costumes were really high-fashion which helped the video to look more high-budget and therefore helped to present the artist's fashionable persona
Things I would do differently:
- I would personally not choose to add dancers in the music video, because the students are professional, it can sometimes look less professional.
- I would also put the timeline of the sets in a more chronological order so that the video looked more coherent and engaged the audience more as more sets are revealed throughout.
